The Three Little Pigs

Once upon a time, three little pigs left their mother to build homes of their own. The first pig wanted to finish quickly, so he built a house of straw. It was light and easy to put together, and he was pleased that his work was done so soon.

The second pig also wanted an easy job. He gathered sticks and built a wooden house. It was stronger than the straw house, but he did not spend much time making it secure. When he finished, he went to visit his brother.

The third pig worked more slowly. He carried bricks, mixed mortar, and built a strong house with thick walls and a solid roof. His brothers laughed because he was still working while they were already resting, but the third pig kept going until the house was finished.

One day, a hungry wolf came to the first pig's straw house. The pig would not let him in. The wolf blew hard, and the straw house fell apart. The first pig ran as fast as he could to the second pig's house.

The wolf followed them. He blew against the house of sticks until it crashed down too. The two frightened pigs ran to the third pig's brick house. The wolf blew and blew, but the brick house did not move.

The wolf tried another way to get inside, but the three pigs stayed together and protected their home. At last, the wolf understood that he could not defeat the strong house and went away.

The first two pigs had learned an important lesson. Quick work is not always good work. They helped their brother repair the yard and promised that, next time, they would take more care. The story reminds us that patience, preparation, and hard work can keep us safe when trouble comes.
